Inrate Launches Engagement offering for Swiss Real Estate Funds – Aargauische Kantonalbank as First Partner

Zurich, Jun 18, 2025 – Inrate, a leading Swiss provider of sustainability ratings, data solutions and active ownership services, is expanding its engagement offering to indirect real estate investments. The cantonal bank of Aargau (AKB) is the first institutional investor to partner on this pioneering engagement format.
The aim of this offering is to improve the sustainable impact on the climate, use of resources and quality of life, thereby creating long-term value. Inrate’s ESG Impact Ratings for Swiss real estate funds form the basis for the thematic selection and evaluation. The rating evaluates the sustainability impact of real estate portfolios along key environmental, social and governance issues. The analysis is based on a standardized set of 46 indicators that take into account both building-specific characteristics and management practices. The dialog is conducted on behalf of AKB with the aim of strengthening transparency and sustainable impact in a key investment area for Switzerland.
Today, engagement is an indispensable component of a responsible investment strategy. Investors can thus not only better address sustainability risks in their portfolio, but also actively contribute to the sustainable transformation of companies and markets. Through continuous and constructive dialogue with companies or fund managers, concrete progress can be initiated in areas such as climate mitigation, governance or social responsibility.
“With Real Estate Engagement, Inrate offers a new solution for institutional investors who want to have a targeted influence on the sustainability impact of real estate funds,” says Glen Boschi, Head of Engagement at Inrate. “We are delighted that AKB is the first partner to join us on this path and actively shape engagement in the Swiss real estate landscape.”
With this step, AKB is strengthening its sustainable investment strategy. Through targeted dialogue with the fund management, it wants to help ensure that sustainability goals in the real estate sector are implemented credibly and backed up by concrete measures.
“As a specialized provider with a high level of methodological expertise, Inrate has the right prerequisites to credibly and effectively promote sustainability in the real estate sector,” says Regula Simsa Lazic, Head of Sustainability Investments at Aargauische Kantonalbank. “We look forward to working together to contribute to greater transparency and impact in the Swiss real estate market.”
We invite other institutional investors to join this new engagement initiative.
